Barclays issues notes denominated in Ecus.

LONDON - Barclays PLC and a finance affiliate, Barclays Overseas Capital Corp. BV, have launched a Euromarket issue of two billion Ecu in medium-term notes and deposit notes.

Barclays chose to denominate the notes in European currency units because they were deemed "more appropriate for a European bank," said Brian Worsely, deputy group treasurer.
