A federal appeals court in Los Angeles said a Miami credit union can continue to issue "Moneyplus" debit cards as it awaits the outcome of a lawsuit filed against it by Visa U.S.A.
In its suit against Eastern Financial Federal Credit Union, Visa claimed that the Money-plus name creates the false impression the cards can be used at Plus, the automated teller machine network affiliated with Visa.
The credit union card is actually part of MasterCard International's Master Debit program.
A federal court hearing on Eastern Financial's motion to dismiss the suit is scheduled for Sept. 21 in Los Angeles.
