Litchfield buys notes through the FDIC.

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Litchfield Financial Corp. said it had completed the purchase from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. of $300,000 of mortgage notes from an unspecified failed bank.

Litchfield said the purchase would result in higher net income this year. There is a "tremendous opportunity" to purchase consumer loans from the federal government over the next five years, the company added.
