Ex-Midwest banker barred from industry.

WASHINGTON -- The four federal bank and thrift regulatory agencies have banned the former chairman of five mid-western financial institutions from involvement in banking.

The banker, Leopold H. Greif, also agreed to pay $2.7 million to cover loan losses and to repay $150,000 in bonuses given two employees.

Mr. Greif ran four banks and a thrift in Kansas and Missouri, including Pioneer Savings and Loan Association, Prairie Village, Kan., and Midland Bank of Overland Park, Kan.
