BNL adds its 600 ATMs to Plus.

Italy's Banca Nazionale del Lavoro has joined the Plus automated teller machine network, bringing in its more than 600 cash machines.

Officials at Denver-based Plus System Inc. said last week that the agreement with the #131 billion-asset bank would give Plus cardholders access to ATMs in major Italian tourist destinations, including Rome, Florence, Venice, and Milan. BNL, based in Rome,is Italy's second-largest bank.

"Plus is expanding rapidly in Europe, and these ATMs will serve the financial needs of the more than 1.5 million Americans traveling to Italy each year," said Ron Reed, Plus senior vice president.

With the addition of BNL, Plus has more than 15,500 ATMs in Europe, including locations in Britain, Spain, and Greece, The network has more than 87,000 ATMs worldwide, with more than 55,000 in the United States.

More than 200 million people worldwide now carry ATM cards with the Plus logo.
