MERCANTILE Bancorp., St. Louis, has elected Melvin D. Brown as chairman, president, and chief executive officer of its Mercantile Bank of Poplar Bluff, Mo., unit.
Mr. Brown has been president of Mercantile Bank of Willow Springs since November 1991, and chairman and CEO of that bank since January 1991. He will continue in that role on an interim basis.
The top five banks and thrifts had combined assets of more than $13 trillion as of December 31, 2023.
