WILSON, N.C. - BB&T Financial Corp. said it had a definitive agreement to acquire Gouger, O'Neal & Saunders Insurance Services Inc., an independent agency in Aberdeen, N.C.
The agency will become part of BB&T Insurance Services.
The parent banking company, with $6.5 billion in assets, said all nine employees would be retained and the current co-owner, Dale Shepherd, would continue to manage the agency.
BB&T said it will issue shares to acquire the Aberdeen operation, which will give BB&T Insurance Services offices in 10 North Carolina cities.
