John Rolls to lead N. American arm of Deutsche Bank.

Deutsche Bank announced Tuesday that it named John A. Rolls President and chief executive of its North American operations.

Mr. Rolls, 51, joins the German bank from United Technologies Corp., where he was executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Deutsche Bank set up a separate North American holding company earlier this year as part of a drive to expand in the United States and Canada.

As the most senior officer of the bank in the United States, Mr. Rolls reports directly to the bank's board in Frankfurt.

His main responsibilities will include supervising lending relationships with large U.S. and Canadian corporations, trading operations, asset-based and project financing, investment banking and business transactions with financial institutions and private banking clients.
