WASHINGTON - The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. opposed proposals Wednesday to let bank subsidiaries accept uninsured deposits and invest the money in assets now off-limits for banking companies.

Congress, in last year's banking law, asked the FDIC for its opinion on this idea, called "two-window" deposit insurance.
