First Security buys Bank One Utah deposits.

SALT LAKE CITY - First Security Bank of Utah said Friday it acquired about $7 million of deposits previously held by Bank One Utah at its offices in Brigham City and Delta.

Terms of the cash purchase were not disclosed. Bank One Utah, formerly Valley Bank and Trust, is a subsidiary of Banc One Corp., the Ohio-based superregional.

Since 1989, First Security has completed 10 banking acquisitions that it said added more than $600 million of deposits and 135,000 deposit accounts to its Utah banking system. The bank has 113 branches in 63 Utah communities.

With assets of $4.5 billion, First Security Bank of Utah is the largest of First Security Corp.'s five banks, which currently operate 211 offices in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, and Wyoming. The holding company has assets of $8.2 billion, and has acquisitions pending in New Mexico, Nevada, and Wyoming.
