Miami's City National nearly triples net.

MIAMI -- City National Bank earned $7.4 million in the third quarter, nearly tripe the $2.6 million of the year-earlier quarter.

Net securities gains of $5.6 million boosted earnings for the quarter.

For the nine months ended Sept. 30., the bank earned $15.8, up 89% form the comparable period last year.

The bank posted a return on average assets of 2.61% and a return on average equity of 32.21%. Without the securities gains, the ROA would have been 1.23% and the ROE would have been 15.24%.

City National is a family-owned bank with nine offices in the Miami area.
