Fiserv Inc., Brookfield, Wis., recently signed three new contracts for its comprehensive banking system. The Bank of Illinois in Champaign will install the system on an IBM AS/400 midrange computer. The bank has $250 million of assets and more than 30,000 customer accounts. It currently uses applications software on an IBM 3083.
The new system is composed of seven integrated modules: common file, customer information file, general ledger, transaction subsystem, time subsystem, loan subsystem, and collateral subsystem. These modules share common data, giving financial institutions easier access to customer information.
The Concord (N.H.) Savings Bank also installed the system on an IBM AS/400 in June. The four-branch bank, with $315 million of assets, had previously processed its 46,000 customer accounts with two IBM S/36s.
Bank Slaski, based in Katowice in southern Poland, signed an agreement to install a similar Fiserv system that has more international applications. The software provides complete customer relationship, deposit, and loan accounting, and financial accounting and reporting.
Bank Slaski is one of the largest state banks in Poland, with 47 branches throughout the country serving an estimated 2 million customer accounts. It is the first Polish state bank to initiate major computerization of its operations, and currently has 40 IBM AS/400 midrange computers.
The King City Federal Savings Bank, Mount Vernon, Ill., selected Fiserv's Milwaukee data processing center. In addition to the standard account processing services, King City Federal will use the bureau's collection services, loan production system, and electronic funds transfer network support. The $187 million-asset savings bank serves customers through five locations in southern Illinois.
