Most bank stocks were trading fractionally higher Thursday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 23.20 points, to end at 3,687.86.
First Union was up 87.5 cents at $40.75 in late trading. Chase Manhattan Corp. was up 87.5 cents, at $33.50. J.P. Morgan & Co. was off by $1.375 a share, at $71.875, while NationsBank gave up 62.5 cents, falling to $46.375 a share late in the day.
