Lomas signs on Huntington Mortgage.

DALLAS -- Computer Power Inc., the servicing industry's long-time technology leader based in Jacksonville, Fla., is losing a major client for the first time.

Lomas Information Systems of Dallas, Tex., has signed Huntington Mortgage Co., with its more than 100,000 loans, to a three-year contract for computer support of the Columbus, Ohio company's servicing business. The arrangement goes into effect in 1994.

It was Lomas' Excelis Mortgage Loan Servicing system that attracted Huntington, according to Doug Brandewie, Huntington's senior vice president. The automated system will improve productivity and processing control, he said.

Carol Spruiell, Lomas' assistant vice president of marketing, said her company worked for more than a year to snare Huntington from CPI. Lomas and CPI are now vying for the combined business of PNC Corp. and Sears Mortgage which PNC has acquired. PNC uses CPI for servicing support, while Sears uses Lomas.
