Phone home.

USAA Federal Savings Bank is gearing up for an extensive test of home banking.

The San Antonio-based thrift plans to deliver information and services early next year to 200 households that will be equipped with advanced screen telephones from International Business Machines Corp.

By the summer, 5,000 of the phones are expected to be in the hands of members of the United Services Automobile Association, the customer-owned financial services empire that includes USAA Federal and mainly serves current and retired military officers.
