Gregory F. Sanford was named president of U.S. Trust Company of California, Los Angeles, the investment management, private banking, and financial services subsidiary of New York-based U.S. Trust Corp.
Mr. Sanford will direct the company's expansion throughout California and oversee its sales and marketing efforts.
A 24-year veteran of the banking industry, Mr. Sanford was most recently an executive vice president at Bank of America. There he managed a staff of more than 800 and was responsible for personal investment management, personal trust, and private banking.
Before that, he was a senior vice president at Security Pacific National Bank, Los Angeles, whose parent merged last year with Bank-America.
Franklin E. Ulf will continue as chairman and chief executive officer of U.S. Trust's California unit, which plans to open an office in Orange County this year
