Wells Fargo to install ATMs at Wal-Mart.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Wells Fargo & Co. has reached an agreement to install automated teller machines at most of Wal-Mart's department stores in California.

The San Francisco-based bank is the third financial institution to strike such an agreement with Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Bentonville, Ark., in recent months. Earlier this year, Star Banc Corp., Cincinnati, and Boatmen's Bancshares Inc., St. Louis, began installing ATMs in stores in their respective regions.

Wells has already placed the self-service banking terminals in 36 Wal-Marts as well as in three Sam's Clubs stores in California. The bank expects to place ATMs at nine stores scheduled to open within the next two months.
