HUD aide to head finance board for now.

WASHINGTON - Nicolas P. Retsinas, assistant secretary for housing-federal housing commissioner at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, has been named acting chairman of the Federal Housing Finance Board.

The board oversees the Federal Home Loan Banks. Its former chairman, Daniel F. Evans Jr., resigned Monday to return full time to his Indianapolis law practice. President Clinton has not yet named a new chairman.

Since joining HUD in March, Mr. Retsinas has served as HUD Secretary Henry G. Cisneros' representative on the five-member finance board. The part-time board is scheduled to become full time in January, and other board members have not said whether they will stay.
