Bank stocks jumped Tuesday, as the bond market rallied.

The 30-year bond gained more than a point to yield 6.30%. It was the first gain in nine sessions.

The Dow Jones industrial average inched up 3.92 points to close at 3,674.17.

Leading the bank stocks was BankAmerica, which gained $1.375 to $42.625. Citicorp gained $1.25 to $35. Wells Fargo & Co.'s share continued their rebound to $117.25, up $2.75.

Bank of New York Corp.'s shares gained $1 to $54.25. And First Interstate Bancorp's shares rose $1.25 to $57.125.
