WASHINGTON -- House Banking Committee Chairman Henry Gonzalez, D-Texas, yesterday called on Federal Reserve officials to act immediately to step up the hiring and and promotion of women and minorities.
A staff report issued by Gonzalez says there are "no minorities and few women" among the senior officers in the Fed system.
The top 10 highest-paid employees at the Federal Reserve Board are all white males, while minorities account for 6.2% and women 17.6% of those employees in the top 10% salary rank, the report says.
Of the employees in the bottom 10% salary range, two-thirds are women and 91.2% are minorities, the report says.
