Banctec sells to unit of Societe Generale.

DALLAS - Banctec Inc. said it has received an order for its image-based check processing system from SG2, a financial services company owned by Paris-based Societe Generale.

SG2 is the largest financial transaction service bureau in France. The ImageFirst system will be used for deposit-proofing applications as well as check processing.

The system will be installed in Paris and include a check reader and sorter that can scan images and handle 1,000 documents a minute. For check encoding, it will includes a transport capable of handling 600 documents a minute.

The system has a Unixbased file server from Hewlett Packard to handle images and three PC-based systems for recognition of characters in images.

Total value of the system is about $1.8 million.
