GM picks an interim card executive.

Philip Guarascio, general manager of marketing at General Motors Corp., will oversee the GM MasterCard program until a replacement is hired for Ronald N. Zebeck.

The company made the announcement Wednesday, officially acknowledging that Mr. Zebeck had resigned Nov. 22.

Mr. Zebeck, who reported to Mr. Guarascio, managed the card's highly successful launch in 1992 but complained of being unable to diversify into other financial services.

"Financial services have been handled by General Motors Acceptance Corp.," a company spokesman said. "That was not going to change."
