Major bank stocks were mixed in late trading Monday as interest rates again moved higher in the money markets.
J.P. Morgan & Co. was up 87.5 cents to $72, First Interstate Bancorp rose 87.5 cents to $62, First Fidelity Bancorp. was up 87.5 cents to $44.375, and Shawmut National Corp. was up 87.5 cents to $21.50.
But BankAmerica Corp. was down 50 cents to $44.75, Norwest Corp. slid 62.5 cents to $23.375, Chemical Banking Corp. cased down 62.5 cents to $38.875, and Chase Manhattan Corp. slipped 87.5 cents to $32.50.
