John Casteen to join Connie Lee's board.

John T. Casteen 3d, the president of the University of Virginia, has joined the board of directors of Connie Lee Insurance Co., the bond insurer said this week.

Casteen replaces Robert L. Woodbury, who recently resigned to run for governor of Maine.

Prior to his current position at the helm of the University of Virginia, Casteen was president of the University of Connecticut for six years and served four years as the secretary of education in Virginia.

He also served as a director of both the New England Education Loan Marketing Corporation and the American Council on Education.

Casteen's extensive career in higher education is a snug fit for his position at Connie Lee, a company created by Congress to insure bonds issued by higher education facilities unable to attract coverage from the private sector.
