Internet poll sees rising holiday use of ATMs.

A recent survey by one of the nation's largest automated teller machine networks has found that consumers plan during this year's holiday season to use their ATM cards 12% more often than during the same period last year.

In all, 34% of the consumers surveyed said they will get cash for holiday purchases from an ATM. In addition. 18% of consumers said they will use ATM cards at the point of sale to buy gifts, an increase of 5%.

The figures show debit card usage making strides in an arena thoroughly dominated by credit card transactions, experts said.

The survey, which was commissioned by Internet Inc., Reston Va., operator of the Most ATM network. polled 1,000 consumers.
