Jefferson's McCartney given title of CEO.

O. Kenton McCartney, president and director of Jefferson Bankshares and its bank subsidiary, Jefferson National Bank, Charlottesville, Va., has been named to the additional post of chief executive officer of both entities, beginning Jan. 1. Mr. McCartney assumes the helm from Hovey S. Dabney, who is retiring but will continue as chairman of the holding company and bank.

Mr. Dabney, who began his banking career in 1949 with National Bank and Trust Co., will retire after 30 years at the helm of Jefferson its predecessor companies. Since 1964, when Mr. Dabney was named president of National Bamk and Trust Co., the company has grown from $50 million in assets to $1.8 billion.
