George Mason Bank.

GEORGE MASON BANK, Fairfax, Va., named its president, Bemard H. Clineburg, as chief executive officer, succeeding Marshall H. Groom.

Mr. Clineburg, who had also been chief operating officer, dropped that title. Mr. Groom remains chairman of the bank and president and chief executive of George Mason Bankshares.

Mr. Clineburg joined the bank in 1990 as president. He had been president and chief executive of Bank of Arlington, Va., which was acquired in 1989 by Citizens Bancorp, Laurel, Md.

D. Gene Merrill joined George Mason Mortgage Corp. as president and chief executive officer.

Mr. Merrill came to the job with 22 years in mortgage banking, most recently as president and chief executive officer of Atlantic Coast Mortgage Co., Fairfax.
