More and more lenders are offering 30-year fixed mortgages at 7% or lower, according to HSH Associates, Butler, N.J.
The research firm last week found 425 lenders offering the loans at or below 7%, up from 380 lenders the week before. The findings were based on surveys of more than 2,000 lenders nationwide.
Last week, the average 30-year fixed mortgage was offered a 7.24%, down two basis points from the previous week, HSH said. That was the fifth week in row that the rate declined.
