Bank stocks fell Tuesday for the second straight day.

J.P. Morgan & Co.'s shares fell $1.375 to $71.375. Banc One Corp.'s shares lost an equal amount, to $56.125. SunTrust Banks dropped $1.25 to $46.25.

Fifth Third Bancorp's shares bucked the trend, gaining 87.5 cents to $54.25. Henry Dickson, an analyst with Smith Barney, Harris Upham & Co., upgraded Fifth Third to "outperform" from "neutral," citing an attractive valuation and compelling performance.
