PNC wins 'strong buy' rating from Kemper.

NEW YORK -- Kemper Securities Inc. analyst Thomas Maier upgraded PNC Bank Corp. to "strong buy" from "long-term buy," citing strong earnings momentum.

The analyst, who picked up coverage of PNC for Kemper recently, also raised his 1993 earnings estimate to $3.25 a share, from $3.10, and his 1994 estimate to $2.90 a share, from $2.75. In 1992, PNC earned $2.36 a share before nonrecurring charges related to changes in accounting standards.

Mr. Maier also noted that PNC's annual dividend of $1.14 a share is yielding 3.9%.
