SAN FRANCISCO - Bank of America has announced the donation of $ 1.1 million of its $6 million pledge of developing-country loans to conservation organizations working on preserving rain forests in Mexico, Central America, and South America.
The bank also announced a donation of $250,000 in developing-country loans to the International Foundation for Education and Self Help.
The largest part of the $1.1 million donation consists of $750,000 of developing-country debt going to Conservation International. A donation of $250,000 of developing-country debt will be made to the World Wildlife Fund, and $100,000 of debt will go to the Smithsonian Institution, which is advising the bank on applications for donations.
