SunTrust ratings get upgrade from S&P.

NEW YORK -- Standard & Poor's Corp. said it revised its ratings outlook on Sun Trust Banks Inc. to positive form stable.

S&P also said it affirmed its ratings on SunTrust Banks Inc.'s senior debt at A-plus; senior/subordinated debt, filed under a shelf registration, at preliminary A-plus/A, and commercial paper at A-1.

S&P said it affirmed its AA-/A1-plus certificate of deposit ratings on Sun Bank-Orlando, and Third National Bank, Nashville, and its AA-/A-1-plus rating on the letter-of-credit-backed issues of Sun Bank-South Florida, Fort Lauderdale.

S&P said about $475 million of outstanding long-term debt is affected.
