PNC taps Schatteman for Kentucky unit.

PNC Bank Corp., Pittsburgh, has promoted Stephen C. Schatteman to president and chief executive officer of PNC Bank Northern Kentucky in Fort Mitchell.

He succeeded Ronald P. Cooney, who retired after 15 years at the bank, including 13 as CEO.

Ralph S. Michael remains chairman of the board of PNC Bank Northern Kentucky and president and CEO of PNC Bank Ohio and of PNC Banc Corporation Ohio the holding company for both banks. Mr. Schatteman had been executive vice president of administration at PNC's Cincinnati bank subsidiary since 1990.

He joined the Ohio holding company in 1988 as general counsel and was promoted that year to senior vice president of it and the Ohio bank. Last year he became a director of both.

Before joining PNC Banc Corp., Mr. Schatteman was an attorney with Frost & Jacobs, Cincinnati, in its banking and commercial group.
