Unisys to equip Hungarian bank.

The National Savings Bank of Hungary, Orszagos Takarekpenztar, and Unisys World Trade Corp. signed a $57 million contract for an integrated banking system. A Unisys spokesman said it was the largest computing contract ever awarded in Hungary.

Established in 1949 as a state financial institution for consumer banking, the Budapest-based bank is the largest in Hungary, controlling about one-third of the total assets in the country and handling 70% of retail savings and 90% of retail loans.

Based in England, Unisys World Trade Corp. is a subsidiary of Unisys Europe Africa Division.

The banking system includes branch automation applications and production and backup processors. Unisys will also provide product management, training, customization, and branch rollout support. Over 45% of the contract value relates to software and services.
