Travel gains are seen despite poor economy.

Business travel will increase despite a weak economy and the unfavorable tax provisions recently signed by President Clinton, according to a poll of corporate travel managers.

Half of the 400 travel managers surveyed for Visa Business Card by the Gallup Organization Inc. said the tax legislation reducing the allowance for business meals and entertainment will have no impact

Most travel managers -- 73% -- said they expected the average length of business trips would remain the same.

Robert Levaro, vice president of commercial card products for Visa International, said the economy and legislation represented difficult obstacles, but added: "This research clearly indicates they will not hinder further growth."
