Bank stock prices were mixed to lower.

Wells Fargo & Co. led gainers, advancing $1.375 a share, to $112.50 in late trading, but other California banks fell. Bank-America Corp. slid 37.5 cents, to $45.375, and First Interstate Bancorp declined 62.5 cents, to $59.25.

Other gainers were KeyCorp, up 75 cents, to $38.625 a share, and J.P. Morgan & Co., 50 cents, to $73.375.

But Bankers Trust New York Corp. was down 50 cents a share, to $78.75, and Bank of Boston Corp. declined 37.5 cents, to $24.125.
