Money funds' assets rose slightly in week.

Money market mutual fund assets rose to $581.49 billion in the week that ended Aug. 18, the Investment Company Institute reported.

That is a slight increase from $580.15 billion the prior week.

Retail assets grew to $392.39 billion, a $3.19 billion increase.

Gains were notched in both the taxable and tax-exempt categories. Institutional assets slipped to $189.1 billion, a $1.86 billion decline. Taxable fund assets fell, which tax-exempt fund holdings rose.
