EFT Association names 5 to board.

Washington - Michael L. Douglas, chief operating officer of Electronic Payment Services Inc., and four other prominent executives have been elected to the board of the Electronic Funds Transfer Association.

Mr. Douglas, formerly of PNC Bank Corp., became the No. 2 officer of EPS when it was formed last year as a joint venture of PNC, CoreStates Financial Corp., Banc One Corp., and Society Corp.

Also joining the board were:

* Peter Gustafson, senior vice president of Visa U.S.A. He is responsible for the card association's debit products. automated teller machine network, and supermarket card-acceptance program.

* David E. Donaldson, first vice president of Comerica Bank in Detroit, where he is manager of retail operations and electronic banking.

* Dan Cunningham, president of Gemplus Card International national Corp., a French-owner manufacturer of smart cards and card-reading terminals.

* Deborah D. McWhinney, senior vice president of Bank of America and head of its consumer electronic banking division. She was a product manager when the Versateller ATM network was introduced in 1979, spent six years in the word banking division, and has been managing ATM networks since 1986.

All were named to vacant seats on the EFT Association's 26-member board. The chairman is Gary Roboff, acting chief executive of the NYCE ATM network.
