EON-Intuit system to let viewer do finance tasks.

A system that will allow consumers to use personal computer financial programs through their television sets is being developed by EON Corp. of Reston, Va., and Intuit Inc., of Menlo Park, Calif.

Consumers will be able to use their televisions to perform tasks such as organizing personal finances, reconciling and updating accounts, checking outstanding transactions, and reviewing accounts. Pricing has not been determined yet, but services might be offered by banks as part of other home-banking packages.

Service is expected to be rolled out in the fall, once the Federal Communications Commission begins issuing licenses for interactive video and data services in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, San Francisco, Washington, Dallas, and Houston.

EON, formerly TV Answer Inc., is working on technology that would allow consumers to play along with television sports and quiz shows, respond to news polls, and conduct banking interactively.

Intuit develops personal finance software, including the Quicken finance program.
