SunBanks names Fred Dobbins to post of regional president.

O. Fred Dobbins has been named regional president of SunBank of Tampa Bay, Fla., a member of SunBanks Inc., Tampa.

Mr. Dobbins will succeed Gus P. Trahan, who becomes executive vice resident in charge of community banking for SunBank of North Florida in Jacksonville.

Mr. Dobbins joined SunBank in April after a 20-year career with First Florida Bank.

He had been senior vice president in charge of retail banking in SunBank's Hillsboro region.

Mr. Dobbins is credited with being a key coordinator in the recent merger between SunBank of Tampa Bay and the former Hillsboro Sun Bank in Plant City.

SunBanks Inc. is part of SunTrust Banks Inc., Atlanta, a superregional bank holding company in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama.

Bank South's Wingate

To Lead Ga. Group

Frank W. Wingate, vice president and manager of the Dekalb Commercial Center for Bank South, Atlanta, has been named president of the Georgia Bankers Association Young Bankers.

The Young Bankers promotes the advancement of banking careers through leadership development training and teaching of effective government lobbying techniques.

The organization also assists bankers in educating the public about banking.

As president of the Young Bankers, Mr. Wingate will be an ex officio member of the Georgia Bankers Association board of directors. His term as president will run through August 1994.

MIDWEST

BANK ONE, Akron, Ohio, has named Oscar C. Hatchett as executive vice president of commercial banking.

He assumes responsibility for the bank's commercial business customers in seven counties.

Mr. Hatchett was previously senior vice president of commercial banking.

The Akron unit of Banc One Corp. also promoted:

Duncan R. Darby to assistant vice president in commercial credit, David G. Fisher to assistant vice president in branch and revolving credit, Steven R. Nielsen to assistant vice president in commercial real estate, and Stephen E. Schillig to vice president of middle-market banking in the Canton office.

NATIONAL CITY BANK

Indiana, Indianapolis, said it assigned Janice L. Faherty, an executive vice president, to oversee administration of services and operations at its 16 banks throughout Indiana.

Ms. Faherty had been executive vice president at Merchants Bank, which was bought by National City Corp., the Cleveland holding company of National City Bank.

During the past year she oversaw the merger and consolidation activities for Merchants and its 16 affiliate banks.

MIDDLE ATLANTIC

CANADIAN IMPERIAL Bank of Commerce, New York. has named Terry M. Kuflik vice president in its U.S. corporate headquarters.

She is responsible for providing communications support to the bank's human resources activities throughout the United States.

Ms. Kuflik had been with Morse Diesel International.

CHEMICAL BANK New Jersey, East Brunswick, a subsidiary of Chemical Banking Corp., New York, has promotted Nicole Lorber to vice president in the commercial banking group.

She is a relationship manager for the middle-market business in Middlesex County.

Forrest B. Patterson Jr. has been promoted to vice president at Chemical Pennsylvania Corp. in Philadelphia, a subsidiary of Chemical Bank New Jersey.

As a relationship manager, Mr. Patterson works with middle-market businesses in the Delaware Valley and Philadelphia.

WEST

BANK OF AMERICA, San Francisco, has named Aniruddha Roy executive vice president. Mr. Roy is head of the bank's investment banking group and is responsible for capital-raising activities in the United States.
