U.S. Bancorp taps Doyle for California post.

SACRAMENTO, Calif - U.S. Bancorp of Portland, Ore., said Wednesday that Daniel J. Doyle, 47, had been, named, president and chief executive officer of its California bank.

Mr. Doyle, a six-year U.S. Bancorp veteran, had been executive vice president in charge of commercial banking at the Sacramento-based unit, U.S. Bank of California.

Mr. Doyle, 47, replaces Stuart R. Foster, 56, who is retiring from active management but remains chairman. Mr. Foster is a former president and CEO of Heartfed Financial Corp., Aubum, Calif., which U.S. Bancorp acquired in 1991.

Under Mr. Foster, U.S. Bank of California made eight acquisitions and grew to $2.3 billion of assets and 66 branches.
