Laser alternative for prospectuses.

Atlanta-based Creative Solutions Group Inc. opened a service bureau that offers a computerized telephone answering service to smaller financial institutions.

It enables them to respond to requests from banking customers 24 hours a day with customized answers, while generating leads for new consumer loans, mortgage loans, and deposit products.

Consumers interested in obtaining personalized answers to their mortgage, consumer loan, or investment product questions can call their bank's 800 number, which is linked to the service bureau.

The financial institution will then receive detailed lead information to prioritize and close the sale.

The service costs a few hundred dollars a month, depending on needs.

Creative Solutions Group is a subsidiary of Atlanta-based Strategic Solutions Group Inc.

Recognition Adds A Proxy Processor

Recognition international's systems division has added to its T4000 series of document systems an application designed to automate the processing of proxy votes.

The proxy product combines image technology with a detection system to produce from 15,000 to 30.000 documents per hour.

Based on an open architecture platform, the system performs detection without the use of timing marks, thus reducing errors and misreads.

In addition to the standard "X" voting character, the system can recognize a straight line, check mark, or other variations as a vote. It can also detect the presence of a signature, write-in vote, or change of address.

The system can also be applied to sales draft processing, image statement rendering, remittance/lockbox applications, dividend check reconciliation, and address change detection and processing.

Recognition International Inc. has its headquarters in Dallas.

Laser Alternative For Prospectuses

Two-color laser printing is being offered by the eastern region of Output Technologies Inc. as an alternative to the traditional offset processing used in the production of mutual fund prospectuses and shareholder reports.

Laser printing is usually less expensive, particularly for short production runs.

Output Technologies can combine the printing with other aspects of shareholder mailings, including the customization of print-on-demand letters.

A large presort service bureau, Output Technologies can commingle mail with that of other companies, thus reducing postage costs.

The eastern region of Output Technologies has sales and production facilities in Boston, New York, and its headquarters city, Hartford, Conn.

The region is one of five principal business units of Output Technologies, Kansas City, Mo., a wholly owned subsidiary of DST Systems Inc., also of Kansas City.
