Bank of Montreal merging treasury staffs.

CHICAGO -- As part of a previously announced U.S. expansion strategy, Harris Bankcorp and its parent, Bank of Montreal, said they are streamlining treasury operations management. Both banks' staffs will report to the same people but "will remain completely autonomous, serving their own customers as they always have,; said Yvan Bourdeau, treasurer of Bank of Montreal.

Harris and Bank of Montreal traders in Chicago will move to a joint trading floor.

In the foreign exchange group, Harris senior vice presidents Jamie Thorsen and Bob Goetter also become managing directors of Bank of Montreal. Ms. Thorsen will be responsible for both institutions' foreign exchange sales throughout North America, and Mr. Goetter will be responsible for foreign exchange trading by both entities in the United States.
