Los Angeles hearing on local finance reset for next month.

A hearing on local government finance that the California Debt Advisory Commission had scheduled for next Monday in Los Angeles has been postponed to mid-October, a commission official said yesterday.

The hearing was rescheduled for 11 a.m. on Oct. 15 in Room 350 at Los Angeles City Hall, 200 North Spring St.

The previously announced times and locations for hearings in San Diego and Sacramento are unchanged, according to the commission.

The San Diego hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Oct. 1 in the chambers of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. The Sacramento hearing is slated for Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. in the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors' chambers.

California Treasurer Kathleen Brown, chairwoman of the advisory commission, said in a statement that the hearings will focus on the $2.6 billion property tax shift from local governments to schools, and on the possible effect of Proposition 172, which appears on the Nov. 2 statewide special election ballot. Proposition 172 would permanently extend a half-cent sales tax to fund city and county law enforcement.
