Visa U.S.A. marketing, planning chiefs quit.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Visa U.S.A.'s heads of marketing and strategic planning have resigned, the card association said Wednesday.

Bradford W. Morgan, executive vice president of marketing and sales, resigned on Tuesday, saying he wanted to pursue a personal goal of running a business.

Sue Simon, vice president of strategic planning, quit last week and is looking into becoming a consultant to banks, a Visa spokesman said.

The moves came within a month of the resignation of H. Robert Heller as president of Visa U.S.A., and led some observers to conclude that a housecleaning was under way. Mr. Morgan denied it.

"With Carl Pascarella coming in [as Visa U.S.A. president], and Visa in its best shape ever, this seemed like an ideal time to leave," said Mr. Morgan, 47, a consumer product marketer who joined the company in 1988.
