Union Planters Corp., a $7 billionasset multibank holding company, converted two more of its banks to a new core software system. It is the latest in a conversion program that has seen the Memphis-based company switch 31 of its subsidiary banks to Kirchman Corp.'s Dimension software since December 1992.

This year, 18 banks were converted to the software. During a five-week period in February and March, Union Planters converted 13 affiliate banks, moving more than $3.5 billion in assets from its other systems and service bureaus.

The bank has been expanding aggressively, increasing its holdings from seven banks to 41 during the last several years. By year' s end, all the banks will be running on the new software.

Union Planters has banking operalions in Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, and Arkansas. KirchmanCorp. is based in Orlando.
