Verifone offers integrated, retail terminal-printers.

Verifone Inc., a provider of transaction automation solutions, has introduced integrated versions of the company's Tranz and Omni systems to the United States market.

The Tranz 460 and the Omni 460 products combine the functionality of a payment terminal and a receipt printer in a compact point of sale system.

The two products are targeted primarily at small merchants, many of whom may still be processing credit card transactions on paper.

The Tranz 460 and the Omni 460 are software compatible with other members of the Tranz and Omni families enabling acquirers to take advantage of the sizable base of Verifone software certified for U.S. payment networks. The systems offer a 2400 bits-per-second modem.

They are available with 1 megabyte of random access memory for storing application programs and transaction information.

These products are also portable and designed for use at sporting events, concerts and fairs.

In a related announcement, Verifone has also introduced Printer 900R roll printers, a line of receipt printers for busy merchants, such as specialty retail stores, restaurants, supermarkets, and service stations.

The 900R roll printers come with a high-speed print mechanism for which Verifone has a patent pending:

The mechanism prints at 3.7 lines a second and the printer comes with a separate motor for rapid paper advance. Verifone executives said Printer 900R produces receipts twice as fast as other roll printers.
