Deluxe opens a store for PC users on the information superhighway.

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Deluxe Business Systems has launched what it says is the most extensive electronic catalog over the global web of computer networks known as the Internet.

The division of Deluxe Corp., which is a leading printer of checks and other business documents, said any of 2,000 products can be viewed and ordered on-line.

"Our goal was to create an on-line electronic ordering process that was easy and convenient for the personal computer user," said Arnold Angelooni, president of Deluxe Business Systems. The electronic offerings include forms, checks, software, and office supplies.

"Our catalog is especially designed for the small-business owner or home-office person who would find the 24-hour access and round-the-clock order opportunities a major convenience," Mr. Angeloni said.

According to Angeloni, the sophistication of the Deluxe catalog makes it a pioneer among the growing list of marketing applications appearing on the Internet. "We also believe our service will set a standard for other direct marketers who aim to appeal to business and home computer users," Angeloni said

After dialing into the deluxe.com address, users see a menu of 18 icons offering access to product groups, an index, and a guide to frequently asked questions. The catalog also has interactive features: Users can have questions answered on-line and can pay for purchases by completing an on-screen order form and entering a creditcard number. To protect the card numbers, Deluxe will use encryption to scramble the data.
