Bond traders support Police Athletic League benefit.

Prudential Securities Inc. trader Tom Kelly went five for five in the finals Thursday to clinch the foul shooting contest at the Police Athletic League's Fourth Annual Sports Night.

Many in the New York-area municipal bond community turned out for the event, which honored former Madison Square Garden president Robert M. Gutkowski.

In addition to the foul-shooting contest, the dinner also featured an auction, and is expected to generate $80,000 to $100,000 for the 80-year-old league, according to Richard V. Riccardi, president of R.D. White, Glaves & Co., who served as one of two co-chairmen for the event.

The league operates year-round youth centers as well as summer sites in inner-city neighborhoods. Kelly, who won $1,000 and four New York Knicks tickets, donated $500 back to the league, Riccardi said.

Dinner chairman was Gerald P. McBride, who heads the tax-exempt division at Prudential Securities Inc. co-chairman with Riccardi was Philip Suarez of Giraldi/Suarez Productions.
