NationsBank replaces head of its Texas business bank.

DALLAS NationsBank Corp. has promoted rising star Rick Parsons to run its fast-growing Texas consumer and business bank in the second major personnel shift made by an out-of-state bank in a week.

On Friday, NationsBank named Mr. Parsons to replace Robert T. Rork, 55, Who said he would take early retirement effective at yearend.

A widely known Text, banker, Mr. Rork has been responsible for the statewide branch system, business banking, and professional and executive banking areas. Mr. Parsons, 39, will assume those duties. He has been working under Mr. Rork since 1990. Most recently, the two worked together on a pact to put NationsBank branches in 15 Albertson's grocery stores.

"Bob Rork has been in the architect of our retail strategy in Texas," Mr. Parsons said. "I've worked for him for nearly five years and I have great respect for his accomplishments."

Mr. Rork, who was not available for comment, started with the former Republic Bank in Dallas in 1962. In 1987, he was named chairman and chief executive of First RepublicBank Austin and stayed on when NationsBank acquired the failed franchise the same year.

Charlotte-based NationsBank is not the only out-of-state giant with changes in the executive suite. Last week, BankAmerica Corp. promoted Larry McNabb to head its newly created Global Payment Services Division in San Francisco.

Mr. McNabb has been chairman of the Texas bank since early 1993. A successor has not yet been named. Assuming his new position on Jan. 1. Mr. McNabb will develop payment business strategy and be responsible for marketing the bank's treasury management and payment products to businesses.
